Hi...

I've been lurking here for a month or so and benefited vastly from the
porch's pool of knowledge. The messages are interesting and full of info
that I can learn from.

My name is Wiktor Kuc (Victor Kootz - this is a phonetic spelling). I know
for many it is somewhat strange, but.

I am an emigrant from Poland. I am 57. I arrived in US in 1982. time of a
big movement of Poles after the Marshal Law was imposed in 1981. I came here
with wife and six months old daughter. My first stop was San Diego, CA. It
has been a few interesting years - adjustment to a new country, finding work
in TV industry.

Now I live in Albuquerque, NM. After several years of working for different
government contractors life become somewhat boring and I started my own
business. The name of it is Multimedia Concepts, Inc. We develop variety
software apps for training, Internet apps, web sites, etc.

Sometime ago last year I have been looking at myself and realized that time
is running out and I better find some time to do something I always wanted
to do - work with wood.

So here I am. Setting up my shop, getting some hand tools, scraping rust
from the old tools, and having fun of my life. It is all like a dream in a
high fever.

Thanks for having this forum!

Welcome, Wik. Pull up that empty rocking chair and have a
glass of lemonade.

Yep, the vertigo caused by the uncontrolled slide down the
long, slippery slope can do that to a galoot.

Welcome, Wiktor! Or should I say, Velcome, Victor? Or ...

Here, we don't care how you spell or pronounce your name. We only care
about how you feel about tools, specifically old tools. It sounds like
you will fit in just fine.

Hi, Wiktor. Welcome to the porch from one of the numerous lurkers (I
still have far more to learn than I have to share).

I was in Poland just a few weeks ago, my first visit there, just a few
days each in Warsaw and Krakow. It's beautiful country there, and the
people were very friendly and welcoming to our group. I enjoyed it a
lot. Have you been back at all after the Soviet fall?

Our guide for the tour was a young lady named Agnieszka Drzaszcz (for
the list, if I recall correctly, it's pronounced ag-nee-ESH-ka
der-shah-sush-kush, although I don't think I ever got the last name
right). I congratulate you on your vowel:consonant ratio.... :-)

If you get tired of the lemonade, I have a few bottles of Okocim and
Zyweic left down here under the porch (I drank all the Krolewskie,
sorry). Just know your limit, no sharp tool usage when impaired.

OT content: Um, well, none, really. Didn't even score a file or chisel
while I was over there. Far too busy singing and sightseeing (and
supporting the local brewers). Pathetic.
