I've got one as well with a rule that doesn't have any makers mark,
and the groove is offset from the center. I don't use it much because
the rule is tapered down it's length, and thus can't draw a
perpendicular line to anything. So it just hangs on my tool board and
looks nice. I didn't realize it would work with a Starrett rule, so
maybe it's time to take it out of retirement.
