56087 Robert Gaukel <rgaukel@q...> 1999‑01‑18 Bio
Greetings Galoots! My name is Bob Gaukel. Instead of lurking, I'm
bounding up the porch steps with reckless abandon (besides, we have black
widows and scorpions under the porches (once you actually find a porch)
here in the left coast, south, neck of the woods).

The combination of being a swapmeet regular and having an
all-things-Stanley (which quickly evolved to an
all-things-able-to-make-wood-smaller) addiction has filled a cabinet with a
varied assortment of tools. Many are in a sad state, so be prepared for
dumb tool repair and tuning questions appearing in future posts. Please be
kind. (these tool thoughts made me sneak out the garage this past weekend,
open the cabinet, and fondle some of the stash. Even compared some SW
specimens to Professor Leachs treatise and WDd em while I was at it.
Good time).

At the moment, I am merely an interested observer to your noble wood sport.
Sure, there have been wooden projects in the past, but those, sadly,
enlisted the aid of tailed apprentices. However, the chisels, scrapers,
and planes (oh my) did contribute greatly to the progress, the function,
and the final form of the pieces. The tools long to be used as they were
intended. I am ready to learn the Quiet Way (TM).

To pay the mortgage and feed the 1.5 kids, I'm a mechanical engineer for a
local telecom company. Other passions include all-things-Starrett, British
motorcycles, and Italian cars with the initials AR (fortunately, SWMBO also
works so that the 1.5 kids do actually eat and the mortgage does get paid).

Oh, one more thing, before I die, I want to make a tool chest.

So, there you have it.
