'Tis time to tell you about me.

I have two primary areas of interest to which old tools apply: a
timberframe house, and the interior woodwork. The house is currently in
the design stage. I have built a couple of frames in workshops with my
wife also attending the second one. She now appreciates having the right
high quality tools for the job :-) The house is being designed so that
the entire area above the garage will be a workshop from which we will
build the cabinets and shape the moulding for the house. (actually, we
plan to build the garage first, and cut the timber frame in there.
Hopefully, frame raising will happen next year.
The are where we live is desert - the Mojave Desert - to be precise. One
big concern is slowing down the timber drying process so that we won't
have too much checking in the posts and beams.
So basically, I am currently tring to learn about tools and how to use
them and care for them. My current project is a simple picture frame. I
am just going to square up and smooth out the wood, and make an open
mortice miter to join the sides.
Well, in a nutshell, that's it.
I'll be glad to listen to whatever advice is offered.
