email handle. Ooops!

Steve Shapland, Aurora, CO My Oldtools bio is dated June, 1996 Maybe
it's time for an update.

---------------------- CUT & ADD TO BIO FILES -----------------------
Update - May 2007 I did finish that cradle. It's a strip built Bahama
Dingy from "The Expectant Father's Cradle Boat Book" in cherry for a grand-
daughter who's mother is career Coast Guard. I retired from the software
industry in 1999, bought a small trailer, and started travel, taking
various woodworking classes along the way. Completed the Sack Back class
at the Windsor Institute (Mike Dunbar of Hampton NH) in 2002. Studied
spoon carving with Mark Sfirri at Penland, NC (penland.org) in 2006. I'm
still an active member of the Rocky Mountain Tool Collectors (rmtc.org)
and was an active member of the Colorado Period Furniture Makers Guild
(now defunct). I've been taking various woodworking classes at a local
community college and teaching hand tool techniques at local woodworking
stores. I've spent summers as a WorkKamper assisting the maintenance
staff in a mountain subdivision. My most recent project has been making
6 copies of my great-grandmother's quilt rack for my family; this was
the project my father was working on the day he died, 15 yrs ago. I
needed to learn turning for the 50+ spindles. Future plans include
swapping the house & shop for a slightly larger trailer complete with a
small shop. Then more travel, more WorkKamper type work, and possibly
even joining the Habitat-for-Humanity caravan. ----------------- END OF
