164862 "Bill Adams" <cbgaloot@g...> 2006‑11‑14 Re-introduction and Bio update-Bill Adams
I've been off the OT list for about a year. Recently had a hankerin'
for some porch time, so here I am again. Sure is good to be back.

Since my first BIO I have turned 50, married off both daughters, and
become a grandfather twice, one granddaughter from each daughter.
Looking forward to galootinizing them.

And moved from Louisiana to Texas, which is home for us.

These days I work for a DOW 30 company doing process control work, a
sort of computer automation.

Most of my spare time lately as been taken up by additions to and
application of TLC to a small house we bought July of 05. We bought it
because we like it's lake/retirement community location on Lake
Texoma, and because we wanted something we could add value to quickly.

Closest thing to real woodworking I have done lately has been
built-ins in the kitchen and closets of that house. Soon as the
kitchen is enlarged I plan to build all the kitchen cabinetry. SWMBO
isn't too enthusiastic about that part. She mumbled something about
wanting it finished before she was in the ground. :) That's cool, I
think I can make that deadline.

During the clearing of the back yard, which might more accurately have
been referred to as "the back forest", I have been collecting limbs
and such which are now drying in anticipation of the day that I turn
them into rustic furniture. Some has already been used to build a
rustic cedar garden fence for SWMBO's truck patch.

Most of my tool acquisitions lately have been of the tailed variety,
for use in the home improvements. Sawing 2x6s for framing in rooms is
just below the dignity of a crispy old Disston.

My recent OT acquisitions include a #10 rabbet plane which I got for a
gloatable price due to the fact that both I and the seller thought it
was missing it's blade. Turned out the blade on it is just very thin.
And of course a few saws, I just can't seem to pass up a saw of most
any brand if the screws are brass. Not too long ago I got a nice
Stanley 45, with all the original blades most of which look unsused.
It was in the original, much worn and lidless, wooden box,

I am BTW a user, not an evil hoarder.

End of Bio.

For those interested here are some pictures of the porch addition. The
last of these pics are about two weeks old. Some of the siding is up
now. Once the porch addition is done I'll be re-siding the whole house
with that new fangled Hardie board. Concrete wood, who'd of ever thunk
it.
