Greetings Galoots;
I have been lurking for a few months and decided it was high time to
grab the porch post and haul myself up. I am a user, as many of you
are ("Honest, honey, I really need that for the ***** I'm building")
and admirer of old hand tools, especially planes and saws. I have
been working wood for the past several years; but just this past year
have discovered the pleasure and serenity of hand tool usage. I'm
slowly but surely moving from the tailed apprentisi to the quiet
mode. By day I am a construction estimator, and by night my SWMBO (a
liver transplant coordinator) and I live on 25 acres in the Texas
Hill Country outside of San Antonio. Recent projects include several
bread boxes with roll top doors and a mahogany plate shelf for my
dear old mom, to match her antique sideboard (had a blast trying to
match the finish...but succeeded). Luckily my SWMBO enjoys "the hunt"
for old tools, has served well as a scout, and almost enjoys the
finds as much as I do.
Looking forward to continued learning...and who knows, maybe by some
accident...contributing.
Best regards,
Joel Jackson
