47065 Chuck McConnell <macwood@i...> 1998‑07‑29 Bio-Chuck McConnell
Finally decided today that I was going to sit down and get my bio sent
in to the list.It always semmed that when I was in the mood to write
it-I wasn't satisfied with what I had written. Well here goes....
I'm 46 years old and spent most of my adult years in the insurance
claims business until an on-the-job accident left me with a broken back.
I've always been around tools as I was the oldest of 6 children and
needless to say, my father was always doing some type of repairs or
building around the house and as you can probably guess, I was his #1
gopher--I mean helper. I spend a great deal of my early years just
watching him and learning from osmosis as he patiently explained the
why's and how to's of woodworking. As I grew older, I was entrusted with
the use and maintenance of, his tools even as he passed along to me some
of his own tools-many of which I still have to this day. To this day, he
is still my tutor and teacher. I also inherited from him a love of going
to auctions and estate sales and seeing what tool "treasures" could be
found.

Although I'm somewhat limited as to what type of woodworking I can do,
I've found myself returning back to the days when I made almost all of
my projects without the use of p*w*r tools and have rediscovered the joy
of woodworking.
