Michael,
These small presses were used by a variety of trades, including paper,
leather, metal and foil embossing, as well as jewellery.
I've a few hundred sets of punches and dies for such a tool. Used for
pressing out all kinds of jewellery components.
The smaller items would be able to be done on a small press like yours.
These would include small ring and brooch shoulders that are about 3-4mm
x 1-2mm in size.
Here are some images and a video of me making gallery wire using one set
of about 8 I have.
Gallery wire is a strip of pieced metal, brought round and soldered to
form the setting with prongs to set a gemstone.
Once set up properly, it would go much faster than my attempt here, hehehe.
