I like a hollow ground screwdriver tip. Only the hollow grind is shallow and extends a --long-- way. Its a very long barely hollow ground bevel, that might be confused with a flat ground tip. But it really isn't. http://users.snowcrest.net/kitty/sgrandstaff/images/hometools/ph2.jpg http://users.snowcrest.net/kitty/sgrandstaff/images/hometools/ph5.jpg http://users.snowcrest.net/kitty/sgrandstaff/images/hometools/ph7a.jpg yours scott -- ******************************* Scott Grandstaff Box 409 Happy Camp, Ca 96039 scottg@s... http://www.snowcrest.net/kitty/sgrandstaff/ http://www.snowcrest.net/kitty/hpages/index.html |

That is actually a very shallow arc, or hollow grind. To get it you "rock" the driver and slide it up and down as you grind, until you get to the very tip. Whether its fancy work or just rehabbing any old driver, lay in onto your wheel's face and "rock it". Work your way to the tip. The tip you end up with is not completely parallel, which is weak, and its not a straight sided wedge, which cams out too easy. Its inbetween,.....................its a shallow arc. Its also easy to do once you have tried it a couple times. ;) yours scott -- ******************************* Scott Grandstaff Box 409 Happy Camp, Ca 96039 scottg@s... http://www.snowcrest.net/kitty/sgrandstaff/ http://www.snowcrest.net/kitty/hpages/index.html |

I'm confused. How does a shallow arc turn out to be stronger than parallel sides? I'm not disputing the point; i just don't understand. > > Its also easy to do once you have tried it a couple times. ;) That's easy for you to say! 8-) Ken -- Registered Linux user #483005 If you ever think international relations make sense, remember this: because a Serb shot an Austrian in Bosnia, Germany invaded Belgium. |

Thanks. That's pretty much what I've been trying to do - with uneven results...
