I've had an issue with outgoing email. I'm hoping this is not a duplicate.

Are you unhappy with the cleated tool wall, or are you just drooling the
chests?

I am actually still working on the french cleat wall (90% done). So far,
I'm not unhappy with it, at all. And honestly, in my space and for my needs
the tool wall makes more sense. But, I just love the look of the tool
chests. Every time I see a finely made tool chest (like Ed and Brent
shared) it makes me drool.

I'm starting to plan my own cleated panels, so I'd love to see photos
when you can.

Seems time to re-post my hanging cabinet. It was built when I worked out of an
urban garage that opened close to the street, so it had a lock installed then
and was closed up when left off working. Since moving to a nice quiet little
town, it has hung open on the wall on french cleats.

I also have a bog standard floor chest w/ three sliding tills that is perhaps
100 or more years old. I bought for an offer I couldn’t refuse from a PATINA
tool dealer that didn’t want to take it home again. I use it to hold tools that
are used less than on a daily basis.

Both solutions work well, but I find the hanging cabinet is more functional for
me.

I will def share photos of my tool wall soon. It's nothing fancy, but I'd
love to get some feedback.

Bill - I'd love to peep your hanging cabinet, but the link doesn't seem to
be working for me.

The link worked for me!

Bill, what species did you use for your cabinet? Is that pine?

Just plain ol’ Poplar. I had done some interior painted work and this was
leftover lumber just crying out to be used.

Poplar is great to work with: light, fairly strong, inexpensive. The only
downsides I've experienced are in rot resistance and that it doesn't seem to
take stain as well as I'd like.

That is a great project! Now, all I need is the wall space for it.
