The second list for the august month of August. we've had so much rain
around here that I'm starting to rust.. sigh. Lots of fresh goodies
including some good carving tools and an assortment for every trade and
taste.
PayPal is now accepted and preferred (if you use it) on all items. On
items less than $25 (not including shipping) I would appreciate you
using the Send Money to Family & Friends option so I don't get killed
with the fees but that is your call. Checks and money orders are still
welcome, it just seems that 1st Class letters seem to be taking forever
to get from there to here.
And remember........da more ya buy, the cheaper they fly!
First contact (that is e-mail, or phone) that says I want it gets it.
Oldtools terms, except on items and orders over $100, if I don't know ya
or haven't done business in the past (and my records good way back..)
then it's pre-pay. I do take PayPal (except as noted). Prices do not
include shipping. All items are shipped with Delivery Confirmation.
Insurance, unless it is a big order or a very fragile item is optional.
Just let me know. Also, I am shipping a lot more stuff via First Class
mail. There will be a small amount added to the shipping cover the cost
of the padded mailer. I don't get them for free.
Please put your name and address in the message. Saves time and email
traffic!

Vintage Wood 12 Inch Panel Marking Gage Or Gauge. The beam is 12 13/16"
long, the head is 5" wide, and this weighs 5 1/2 oz unboxed. Not signed
as to the maker, there is a user name stamped on the top of the head.
This is in reasonably good condition, the only cleaning was a wipedown
with some wax. The beam is good other than a couple of tiny dots of
paint and it is straight. There is a small hanging hole at the end.
The point isn't super long but there is enough there to make a mark.
The head has some stains on the underside of the fence but no wear to
the fence area. The threads on the locking screw are good and it does
it's job. All in all this is a good looking tool that will get the job
one. $28.00

can't read the mark, 7 7/16" long, 9/16" wide across the edge, and they
weigh 1 lb 6 oz unboxed. These are in well used condition and were
cleaned. The first one has been ground down a bit and the edge has a

on the blade but that has most of the original gray finish. The edges
and corners are good. The handle is mahogany. That has some wear to

some frosting and staining, the other one is bright with some stains and
was used recently, but there is nothing bad there at all. These are
solid and well made tools and you sure ain't going to buy tools of this
quality at the hardware store any more and Rose is a collectible maker.

condition and was cleaned. There is some pitting on both sides of the
blade but the tip was never messed with. The shaft and frame are good.
The handle scales have some stains but they are solid and on tight.

rust etching on the blade. The edges and corners are good. The handle
looks to be ebony but it could be very dark rosewood. There are some
thin checks running down both sides and the usual dings and light wear.

Fine Products England Tool Chisel Roll With 8 Pockets. Measuring 19

company of Middlesex England. This is NOS, that's New Old Stock. This
was never out of the package until I took it out to take the pretty
pictures. Canvas on the outside and some kind of felting on the inside.
This is a well made and quality item. $18.00

Two Cabinetmakers Shave Hooks Or Shavehooks. These are 7 5/16" long,
the triangle blade is 2 7/16" across the edges, the other one is 2 3/8"
high, 1 3/4" wide, and they weigh 9 3/4 oz unboxed. Not signed as to
the maker, but I know for a fact that these came over from England in
the 1980's. These are NOS, that's New Old Stock. But they have been
bouncing around boxes for a while. I did clean some light patina off of
the shafts and a few small spots on the blades. The edges had a few
light dings that I fixed with some file work. The handle finish is good
on both. These are quality and handy tools. $15.00

F G Person Sheffield 3/16 Inch No 5 Sweep Carving Tool Gouge. Measuring
4 3/8" from the edge to the top of the handle, the blade is 3/16" wide
across the edge, this is 8 1/2" overall, and this weighs 1 1/4 oz
unboxed. Francis George Pearson was Sheffield England edge tool maker
in business from 1821 until 1905. This is in good condition overall and
was lightly cleaned. The inside of the sweep is clean other than a few
lightly stained spots. The back is good as well. The handle has a few
stains and dings but that is solid. Person while not a common name over
here was in business for a long time and you didn't stay that way by not
making quality tools. $17.00

Brown & Sharpe No 748 Machinist Speed Indicator. This weighs 4 1/2 oz
unboxed. This has the Nov. 28 1922 patent date but I can't find the
patent number for it. This is in reasonably good condition and was
cleaned by someone else. There is some light patina on the head but
nothing too bad. This rotates freely but could stand a drop of oil.
The index knob works as well. These model is a lot less common than the
Starrett speed indicators, I know I sure ain't seen too many of them.

1/8" in diameter, the dimple is 5/16", and this weighs 8 3/4 oz
unboxed. This is in reasonably good condition and was cleaned by
someone else. There is some light patina on the machined surface of the
head. The face, dimple, and post hole are all good. This may have been
repainted, I can't say for sure. The striking end only has a couple of
very light dings. This is a good looking and quality tool by one of
America's top tool makers. $17.00

H Disston & Sons 26 Inch Langdon Miter Box Saw. Measuring 33 1/2"
overall, the blade is 26" long, 5" high from the edge to the start of
the back, this is sharpened to 11 PT CC, and this weighs 3 lbs 14 3/4 oz
unboxed. The medallion dates this to the 1917 - 1940 time period and
was made for the Millers Falls Langdon miter box. That mark is faint
but can be read. This is in decent condition overall. The only
cleaning I did was to run some steel wool over the blade and some wax on
the tote. The blade has some staining, scuff marks from the miter box
guides, and a few dots of light pitting but nothing too bad. The blade
has a very slight bow to the edge (1/32") but for a saw of this size,
that's acceptable. All the teeth are present and this is fairly sharp.
The apple wood tote has some staining and dings but it's solid. This
ain't minty but these guys rarely are. $35.00

Neat Early Hand Forged Square Face Cross Peen Hammer. Measuring 13 3/8"
overall, the head is 5 1/16" long, the face is 3/8" square, the peen is
7/16" wide, and this weighs 6 3/4 oz unboxed. Not signed as to the
maker. This is in decent condition and was cleaned. The head has some
light patina and there is line of deeper pitting on the underside of the
peen but it's not cracked. The face is good other than some tiny dings.
The peen is missing a piece and I did dress down some rough edges.
The handle is the original one. That has some stains and dings but it's
solid and the head is on tight. This ain't perfect but it is a pretty
neat hammer to say the least. $26.00

Three Stanley No 26 Screwdriver Bits For A Brace. There is a 1/4", a
5/16", a 3/8", and they weigh 5 oz unboxed. The first two have the
vertical mark with the model number and size, the last one has just the
horizontal Stanley mark. The first two are in good shape and do not
look like they were used much. Somebody thinned the blade a little on
the last one and there are some pliers marks on the shaft above the
tang. So that one has some patina but putting these sets together sure
ain't getting any easier. $17.00

Vintage C Drew Cast Steel Wood Handle Box Scraper. Measuring 13 3/4"
long (straight across), the blade is 4 5/16" wide across the edge, and
this weighs 1 lb 4 3/4 oz unboxed. C Drew was a long time Maine tool
maker. This is in decent condition and was cleaned. There is some
light patina on the head. The blade has been sharpened a few times over
it's long and storied life, but there still is some left to work with.
There is some mushrooming on both the outside and inside on the top of
the blade. The handle has some dings and stains and there is some wear
or chipping on the turning at the end. The tang goes all the way
through the handle and is peened over a washer at the end. This ain't
pretty or perfect but it is a very collectible old tool and one that
does not show up very often by this maker. $32.00

1/2 oz unboxed. This is ruled in 32nds and 64ths on the front and 10ths
and 100ths on the back. This is in used but reasonably good condition
and was lightly cleaned. There are light scuffs on the satin finish and
a light shop mark on the back. All the rulings are readable. The edges
are good, the one corner is dinged. The case has some light funky but
it's solid. This ain't minty but for the price, it sure ain't bad and
it is a handy rule. $16.00

Vintage C S Osborne Wood Handle Tapered Pipe Reamer. Measuring 5 1/2"
long, the blade is 1 5/8" wide across the top, the handle is 4" wide,
and this weighs 4 oz unboxed. While C S Osborne is best known for their
leather tools, they made tools for a variety of other trades over the
years. This is in decent condition and was cleaned. The back of the
blade has some spots of light pitting and some scratches but it's clean
for the most part. The inside was never finished off real pretty like
to start with. The edges could stand a sharpening but they are good
with no chips. The handle has some dings and stains but it's solid and
on tight. I gotta say that I sure haven't seen too many of these around
by this maker. $18.00

Millers Falls No 48 Clark Pattern Expansive Brace Bit & Box. This has
both cutters and this all weighs 8 1/2 oz unboxed. This is in used but
good condition and was cleaned. The tool is good and the lead screw and
main blade are sharp. The small cutter is good to go, the larger one
was sharpened at some point and could stand a touchup. The box lid has
the original price on it and some wear. The paper tape on the one
corner of the bottom part of the box is loose. This ain't minty but it
will get the job done. $18.00

(excluding the blade) and this weighs 8 oz unboxed. Made In West
Germany. This is the same size as a Yankee 135 push screwdriver. This
is in good condition and was not cleaned. There is really nothing to
fuss about patina wise. The plating is good and the handle finish is
perfect. This works just fine. This comes with 2 straight and 1
Phillips bit. The larger straight bit has a very slight twist at the
end, the others are good. This ain't the fanciest but it is a good
working tool and looking tool. $17.00

decent condition and was cleaned. There are some dings, scratches,
light cut marks, and a few spots of pitting on the body. The face has
some light dings and wear but nothing too bad. The peen is good. The

is 2 15/16", the middle one is a 1", the blade is 3" long, the last one
is a 1 1/2", the blade is 3", and they weigh 1 lb 7 oz unboxed. These
are in used but reasonably good condition and were cleaned. The blades
have couple of dots on the back and the fronts but nothing too bad at
all. The edges are good and sharp or pretty darn close. The red
Permaloid handles have some scuffs and light wear and somebody drilled
hanging holes so you won't have to do it. The striking button on the
3/4" is banged up a bit, the other two are good. These ain't perfect
but they sure ain't bad either and most of these I see look like Buck
Rogers built two spaceships with them. Just saying. $50.00

Early Stanley No 62 Marking Gage. This weighs 4 oz unboxed. This isn't
marked other than the patent date but these guys rarely were. Good ole
Justus A. Traut of New Britain, CT was granted Pat. No. 334,308 on Jan.
12, 1886 for the design of the fence used on this tool. Figuring 20
years for the use of the patent date, that puts this guy between 112 and
132 years old. This is in reasonably good condition and was cleaned by
someone else. He also hit it with the shiny stuff. The beam has some
dings from the screw and a few stains but nothing too bad in that
department. The head also has a few light dings and stains. The
locking screw is good. The screw for the point does remove and the
point removes as well. That could stand a quick sharpening but there is
lots to work with. This ain't pristine but having seen my share of
marking gages over the years, these guys rarely are when they get to be
this old. $23.00

7/8" long across the edge, 13/16" wide across the edge, and this weighs
1 1/2 oz unboxed. This is in reasonably good condition and was not
cleaned. There are some dots of rust on both sides of the blade but
nothing too bad. There is a spot on the top as well. The edge is good
with no nicks but it could stand a sharpening. The handle scales look
to be celluloid. Those are good other than a few light scuffs. The
joint is a little loose as is the spacer at the end of the handle
scales. This ain't perfect but these wider bladed models sure don't
show up every day. $30.00

This isn't marked but it is a 214 with the Sears paint job. Identical
tool, slightly different color scheme. This is in used but reasonably
good shape and was cleaned. This has all of the original finish but
there is some staining mainly on the front handle. The plunger tip is
good and the anvil doesn't show much in the way of wear. That is marked
from 4 to 16 as far as TPI goes. The screw on that works and was oiled
as was the fence screw. This ain't the fanciest, but for the money, it
sure ain't bad. $20.00

These are in decent condition and were cleaned. There is some wear to
the finish but most of it is there. The screws that lock these to the

a good working tool. $18.00

Early Hand Forged Small Face Blacksmith Flatter. Measuring 8 7/8"
overall, the head is 2 11/16" long, the face is 1 5/8" wide, 1 1/2"
high, and this weighs 1 lb 5 oz unboxed. Not signed as to the maker.
This is in decent condition and was cleaned. There is lots of patina on
the head (that's how I know it's early eh?) The face has some dings,
mushrooming on the sides, and is slightly rounded from wear. The
striking end has some chips, a little mushrooming, and I did zing off
one sharp bit on the one corner. The handle is old and has the usual
stains and a couple of long dead worm holes. That is just shoved into
the eye and the head wiggles a little, but it's better than no handle
(unless you want a 2ft one..) This ain't minty but it does have some
serious age to it and it sure ain't ready for the scrap pile just yet.

ain't much in the way of patina on the head. The face and peen have
some tiny dings but nothing too bad there. The handle was put on by
someone else and they left some scuff marks on the top of the eye. The
handle has a few stains but it's solid and on tight. I gotta say, that

overall, the head is 4 15/16" long, the face is 1/2" in diameter, the
peen is 9/16" wide, and this weighs 12 3/4 oz unboxed. There is a user
name stamped on the side of the eye which might be the maker. This is
in decent condition overall and was cleaned. The head has some light
patina. The face is good other than some scuff marks and was dressed at
some point to get rid of some mushrooming around the edge. The peen is
good other than some dings. There is a line on the top and underside of
the peen but it's not cracked, just something that was left over when
this was forged. There is a crack on the lower front edge of the adze
style eye but it doesn't run too deep. The oval handle is the original
one. That has some dings and stains. The head wiggles a little but
it's not going to come off. This is what it is, but these guys sure
don't show up very often with the original handle. $22.00
