266350 Anthony Seo 2018‑08‑15 Madison Bouckville NY August 2018 Antique Show
Monday and Tuesday I was up at the 2018 Madison Bouckville NY antiques
show.  This is the largest outdoor show on East Coast outside of
Brimfield.  This show pulls in a lot of dealers, some specialized, but
many are just general dealers and you pretty much have to hit every
booth to look.  The ride up there (185 miles) started off a 4:30 AM on
Monday, after the alarm went off, with the Weather Channel sending out
one of their "The world is going to end flash flood warnings".  I looked
at the weather map and there was a big solid red band heading across the
state, ugh.  By the time we got on the road at 5:30 AM it started
raining and we had rain, although not too heavy, all the way up.  But NE
PA got hammered all day with lots of flooding.  Traffic was fairly light
and the trip for the most part trauma free.

Monday was gray skies and humid.

You can't see it but it was pouring at this point.

Parking lots driveways were swamps, but it ain't the first time I've had
to mud it on out.

Pickings were good volume wise overall.  Hammers weighed heavily in the
knapsack of tools hauled out.  There is a big stacked leather stone
cutter's mallet, a dog head saw makers or file cutters hammer, a small
silversmiths hammer, a hand forged Warrington pattern hammer head, a
neat early ball peen hammer head, the next one is more of handled swage
rather than a hammer, a big planishing hammer for metal work, a early
small jointers hammer, an interesting long face cross peen hammer, and
another small jointers hammer.

From the forged side of life, a signed small belt axe, a small swage
also signed, a hand forged tapered reamer, a big hand forged saw wrest,
a forged bleeder, a small hand forged scorp, pair small blacksmith
tongs, an early oyster or clam shucking knife, an anvil hardie, stone
mason pointing tool, and a big ice axe head.

Osborne leather draw gauge, 1 Addis and a couple of Buck Bros carving
tool chisels, 4 small turnscrews, a nice looking small panel marking
gauge, a 1 3/4" Forstner bit for a brace, 3 burnishers, and a hand

Total walking for both days was about 6 miles and I'm feeling that for
sure.  The ride back was a lot less fun, traffic, on an off heavy rains
all the way down, and plenty of idiots that seem to think that a 1/2
mile visibility in a downpour is no reason NOT to go 70+ mph.  Double
the ugh.  But I made it back and tomorrow it's time to get the real work
started,

Tony (let's just say that it sure ain't getting any easier!)
