18432 John Mudd <jrm@p...> 1997‑05‑15 Belated bio
I subscribed to Oldtools last October and promised myself that I would
send in a bio once I finished my first real project. I'm close enough,
so here goes.

I moved to Oregon about five years ago from central Ohio, and I manage
the systems administration and software production for a small software
company in Wilsonville, Oregon. I'm 32, I close on a house next week in
Hillsboro, and I'm getting married in July to a most wonderful lady.

In between work, finding a house, and doing wedding stuff, I've been
building a workbench. It's a Kirby-style bench with a few personalized
touches to it. All of the work has been done by hand and a few power
tools (bandsaw and drill, mostly). Since I found others' web sites to
be useful when deciding how to build this bench, I intend to write up
my own experiences (with pictures) when I'm completely finished. I'll
post a note and a URL when that happens.

One grandfather worked at a lumberyard, and the other had his own
woodshop. I just wish they were both still around to talk to. I've
always had a thing for wood and woodworking, and a preference for
things that are old, so I guess I was a natural for using handtools.
I've been slowly and carefully acquiring a nice set of tools.

I cannot wait to get into a house because woodworking and apartments
are basically incompatible, and I do have some projects in mind to build
after I get settled.
