Biography-Bob Hall
My name is Bob Hall. I reside in Hauppauge,N.Y. I was born in 1933 and
have been doing
Woodworking since age 11. During the World War 2 years my dad worked for
Grumman Aircraft
Engineering Corp. here on Long Island and had access to the discarded pine
shipping crates from
The engines for the fighter planes Grumman built. He had these shipped to our
home on a flatbed
Truck for $1.00 apiece. Once dumped onto our driveway it was my job to
disassemble them and sort
Out the Pine by size. We finished the basement and two bedrooms in the attic
with this wonderful
Knotty Pine which was in vogue at the time. Thus I learned how to use hand
tools and still have these
Wonderful old transitional planes,,squares, saws, levels, etc. This also aroused
my curiosity in old tools
Without my fully realizing it at the time.
Today I am an active woodworker and antique tool collector. I am currently
the Secretary of the
Long Island Woodworkers Club (LIWC), and Vice President of Long Island
Antique Tool Collectors
Association (LIATCA). I am very active in both organizations writing articles
for their newsletters. I
Travel to the Woodworking Shows, Tool Auctions, and Meets here in the
Northeast.
My woodworking preferences lie in making Toy Trucks for both Little & Big
Boys. I am in the
Trucking/Courier Service business and love trucks almost as much as Tools.
Therefore I try to
Incorporate the features on the big guys into my toys to make them look
realistic and functional at
The same time.
Since subscribing to oldtools a few weeks ago I look forward now to
reading my daily e-mail.
I am trying to master the Galoot lingo and ask questions when stuck. How
about IMHO & IMVHO ?
HELP ! Im stuck. Thanks
Bob
