Hello All (Again)!

Lets get the factual stuff out of the way - My name is Ken
Cutting. I think I'm in the running for the youngest galoot around (besides
everyone's GITs of course). I'm 27. I live in Alexandria, NH and I am
a stay-at-home-father. SWMBO has a high-paying job... as a teacher (did
you catch that fib(lie, Jeff)?), but we manage to get by. I'm hoping
to start contributing to the family coffers by selling some of my
woodcraft - simple handmade furniture. Last of the factual stuff - I
got my degree, BA in physics and also nearly a Master's in Education
from the University of New Hampshire before my lovely GIT, Evelyn, was
born (she's now 4.5 years) - oh, and we have another on the way (end of
March(06), beginning of April(06)) - yup, I'm building the crib - no I
didn't build the first one, but
mine will be a lot better that that expensive POS we bought for GIT #1 -
which I just converted parts of into a twin bed - I'll see if I can't
get some pics and post them!

*UPDATE*

*Over the past year we suffered two miscarriages BUT! we are now
nearly 30 weeks into our pregnancy expecting in early January(07)!  I
have a lot of projects to get done but first and foremost is my bench
which is coming along as I'll update below. Dang, still no pics of that
bed!*

Well, as you can tell now... I tend to run on... and on and on...
Anyhow, I am still working on getting the wood for my bench - my
source is slow but good and cheap! But as soon as I get it that bench is going
up! Then I expect to kick it into high gear - ever plane a rough sawn
oak 1"X6"X6.3 feet long on the floor? Tough going, was for me at least.
And I've already got a list of things to build for the family!

*Update*

*Got Lumber? Or I should say Got Timbers?!  I waited and finally
found a source for the timbers for my bench for what I consider to be
a reasonable price ($20 for 6"x6"x8' Timbers)  The top is in a
'finished' state - read - needs work and I plan to do more with it but
it's functional.  The base is in the joinery process.  I just need more
time!  It's coming though.*

Some more about me...

I grew up in Northeast Texas (Tyler for those of you who know the
area)where my father's family lives and when my mom and dad split (I was
7) I moved with mom to New Hampshire - where mom's family is! Got married
and had GIT #1 right out of college and we still rent (damn college
loans!)here in Alexandria, NH.

Oldtool Content

I actually evolved into old tools though old reel mowers and
environmental consciousness! When my grandfather (mom's dad) passed
away in August of 2002 it was my job to go through his garage and that is
where I found my first reel mower. I began using it right away and
steadily progressed (slid - man this slope is slippery) and I have
and am still working on acquiring a basic tool set - alright, maybe a bit
more than basic!

*Update*

*Have aquired quite a few tools over the past year from all over
the place.  Can't think of much that I'm looking for these days...  uh,
anything that comes my way real cheap!  I am overly fond of Tidgewell
marking and measuring tools (that's Tidgewell & Co.(arched),
Middletown, CT (straight from end to end of the arch (with this
symbol)"" (in the middle of the space delineated by the words)
Other than this I love one-of-a-kinds and homemade. I'm not too picky!*

Well, I hope you enjoyed getting to know me - I know that I've
enjoyed getting to know all of you (I've lurked for a while) and I have
learned a ton and look forward to learning a ton more from the
everyone on the Porch!

Hey, is it alright if I *keep sitting* here?

*I forgot to mention the first time around...

I LOVE OLDTOOLS!!!*
