It appears I may have missed posting a bio to introduce myself. After
checking the current FAQ and Charter, I don't see anything saying that
one should post a bio.
My name is Douglas Denny and I live on the east coast of Canada in a
small city called Halifax in the province of Nova Scotia. (From New
York City drive North five-six hours to Portland Maine, take a right onto
the ferry going north-east, wait three hours and drive another
three.) I am 30-odd years old and have been involved in various types
of construction activities since I could swing a hammer and push a
paintbrush. I have always had a desire to know and understand wood and
woodworking. So in many respects, I am a novice woodworker. After
living in apartments for the last 10 years, I am rebuilding my tool
collection and building some new skills. I currently own a couple of
planes, some chisels etc. I am currently building bench (although I
think everyone is still building their bench, so to speak).
I am an IT worker-bee, currently called a consultant and spend most of
my working life in meetings. Previous incarnations include minor Unix
slag and network hack. For those in the business, I have been pushing
IP packets for about 10 years now...
I have been reading oldtools for a couple of months now, and never
being accused of being shy, have been posting marginal questions about
wood. :). Oh yeah, My brother has called me a big Galoot since I was
12. My wife is 9 months with GIT#2, and employer just sold the
company, but I still have a job!
Cheers,
-Doug
