111046 "Dan Hogan" <dhhogan1@e...> 2002‑10‑25 Hello and Updated bio
Greeting Galoots:

I have been off of the lists for a year, not even lurking but just got back.
So here is an updated bio.

Subject: Bio Dan Hogan

I started on Oldtools the first week of it's life, courtesy of O'deen.
While I am both a handtools and "tailed tools" type I use the hand tools
for fun. Power tools when it has to be done quick or it is not efficient
via hand tools, and visey/versy.

I grew up watching my grandfather using hand tools for ALL of his
work around the house. I don't remember him ever owning an electric tool.
I have had a DIY shop since we bought this house.

When I buy I usually buy from Patrick Leach. I am still working to re-create
my grandfathers tool chest from memory. In 2002 I inherited a *huge*
amount of oldtools from my best friend, who passed away. I am currently
inventorying and assessing the tools which include levels, planes, chisels
and R-L rules.

As for back ground, I was trained as an "Aircraft Master Maintenance
Technician," (A & E in those days) and have worked on every thing from
Aeronca's to 747's There were wood ribs in those Arenocas. Went from a
Mechanic to management in 37 years. When the company I worked for, Flying
Tigers was bought out by FedEX, I retired and got a gold-plated lead
parachute.

I have been using the net since 1988. I currently subscribe to several
mail other lists, Besides wood butchering my other hobbies are sailing
and Amateur Radio. I have a Catalina 27 slipped in San Pedro. I am owner
of the Navigation-L mail list dedicated to non-electronic navigation
methods. Which has resulted in my getting interested in making wood replica
antique nautical instruments.
