Hi folks,

I've been hidin' in the trees listening in on the porch conversations
for a few months now and figure its time to step forward.

Bio: By day, I'm a mild mannered, sometimes anyways, software guy that
turns Coke into C code for a telecommunications company. I'm 31,
whoa I was just 26 last week, with a very understanding wife when
it comes to my love of old tools. I'm fascinated by old wood working
tools with a soft spot for wooden bodied planes and spoke shaves.
I'm told that my great grandfather was a carpenter, but we was
gone, along with his tools, long before I was a twinkle in my Dad's
eye. I'm living in Allen TX, just north of Dallas, but I'm originally
from Ottawa, Canada - still have that Canadian accent, eh, although
I find myself saying y'all once and a while. I turn wood into shavings
and saw dust with the occasional by product of a piece of furniture.

Gloat: Went to a small antique auction last weekend and picked up a #81 for $4
along with some other odds and ends. It has the wrong blade, and since
I've never seen one before, I'm not sure what the blade should actually
look like. Anybody (MofA, Larry, Ron, etc.) have a blade for one of these
things?

Question: I'm going to look at a 605 tomorrow and wanted to know what
I should be looking for to determine if the parts are the proper
ones for the plane. Larry P (rstytool) was advertising a 605 with
the wrong iron and lever cap. What should the proper ones look like?
I didn't ask if its the old or new style - is one typically priced
higher than the other? I'm after a good user so I don't care if the
   parts are original, just proper.

Lookin' forward to participating a bit more in the future. Oh ya, "Hi"
to Mike, fellow lurker, who I met at the auction.

Gidday, <== Ottawa Valley expression, not Aussie
  Jim
